Berlin: Hundreds Protest Eviction of Tenants

Something new is happening in Germany: Hundreds of people, partly from the neighbourhood, tried to prevent the eviction of tenants that were in arrears with their rent payments. While in October, protesters succeeded in blocking police, they now failed.

After the eviction about 1.000 people spontaneously protested the eviction. Police arrested and mistreated several persons.

During the eviction, the balliff disguised herself as a cop.

The protest is seen as a considerable gain in strength of a still embryonic initiative against evictions. See for further information (in German):
